A 10-year-old boy is facing charges of attempted murder and rape in connection with an assault on a female jogger in a park in France. The incident occurred at Gouëdic Valley park in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, where the boy allegedly attacked the 22-year-old victim.

According to reports from French newspaper Le Parisien, the boy approached the woman and demanded that she undress. When she refused, he purportedly stabbed her in the arm and abdomen before fleeing the scene. Nearly a week later, police apprehended a suspect matching the victim’s description.

Investigators recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack, as well as clothing consistent with the victim’s account. Although official documents state the suspect is 10 years old, medical examinations suggest he may be older, possibly around 14 years old.

The suspect, who arrived from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, a year ago to live with his father, confessed to carrying out the attack during police interrogation. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to gather more details.
