A significant search and rescue operation is in progress following the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy while swimming at a nature reserve in Hampshire. The emergency services have been actively searching the area at Testwood Lakes near Totton since approximately 1:45 pm. The incident occurred as the record for the hottest June day was broken with a temperature of 36.1°C recorded in Gosport, Hampshire. Hampshire Police have advised the public to steer clear of the area. A police spokesperson stated that a collaborative effort is underway after receiving a report of the missing boy at Testwood Lakes. The location is currently restricted as the search operation continues, and the public is urged to avoid the area.
Marine units have been deployed to assist in the search, working alongside NPAS, South Central Ambulance Service, and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire Service.
