In southern Manitoba, authorities are treating the death of a four-year-old girl and injuries sustained by two toddlers at a residence as suspicious, according to RCMP. Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a call at a home in Long Plain First Nation after emergency personnel reported a young child in medical distress with injuries on Sunday morning. Sadly, the four-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. The two other children, aged one and two, were taken to the hospital, with one initially in critical condition and the other in stable condition, both of whom are now in stable condition. RCMP has assumed control of the investigation due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the four-year-old’s death and the severe injuries to the other children. Supt. Rob Lasson, heading Manitoba RCMP major crime services, described the incident as deeply concerning and emphasized the importance of finding out what transpired in the household. Lasson assured the Long Plain community that RCMP, in collaboration with MFNPS and community leaders, are diligently working on the case.
