Police apprehended a fifth individual in connection to a recent shooting incident in Trafford. Last week, emergency services swiftly responded to reports of a shooting on Higher Road in Urmston around 8:40 pm on Friday, January 16. A 21-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound, receiving immediate medical attention on-site before being transported to the hospital by Greater Manchester Police. The injured man is currently in a stable but critical condition, as confirmed by a GMP spokesperson in an update provided on Saturday.
The spokesperson also disclosed the recent arrest made in relation to the ongoing investigation into the shooting. A 38-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Earlier in the week, four other individuals, aged 18, 21, 25, and 28, were also arrested on similar charges, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
The four previously detained individuals have been released on bail pending further inquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant of GMP’s Trafford district emphasized the commitment to pursuing all involved in the January 16 incident, leading to the arrest of five suspects throughout the week. Bryant reiterated the zero-tolerance stance on such violence in the community, assuring the public of the significant progress in apprehending suspects linked to the case.
