7-Eleven, a prominent convenience store chain, is set to shut down 645 stores across the United States due to ongoing company-wide consolidation. The closures are part of a liquidation process with a significant sale happening at their outlets.
According to a report from C-Store Dive, approximately 645 7-Eleven locations in North America will be closing during the fiscal year 2026. Among these closures is a well-known store in Penacook, New Hampshire, situated on the northern edge of Concord. The store will cease operations on May 20 after being acquired by a new owner.
The decision to close these popular stores aligns with the company’s strategic objective of expanding into larger, food-centric locations. In preparation for the shutdown, the 7-Eleven store at Thirty Pines in Penacook is offering discounted prices to clear out its inventory.
Reports indicate that the store initially advertised a 50% discount on most items on Tuesday morning, which later increased to 75% by the afternoon. The store management expressed gratitude to customers for their loyal patronage, acknowledging the community’s role in their daily operations and lives.
Despite these closures, 7-Eleven has ambitious plans to open 1,300 new locations between 2025 and 2030. This marks the fifth consecutive year where the company has closed more stores than it has opened, reflecting its evolving business strategy.
