The family of a talented teenage girl has expressed heartfelt sentiments following her tragic passing at their residence. Adriana Retyte, aged 14, passed away two days after emergency responders were called to their home in Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk, on May 8. Despite receiving CPR at the scene, Adriana was later pronounced dead at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
In a poignant social media post, Adriana’s mother, Greta Sagger, 31, shared the news of her daughter’s demise, stating, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved Adriana.” The post also included details of her upcoming service for those who knew her, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support during this challenging time.
A public tribute on Facebook announced Adriana’s funeral scheduled for the following day. Greta, who works as a manager at her husband Ben Sagger’s Strand Development Limited, a significant sponsor of teams like the Taverham Toucans, where Adriana was an active member, also mentioned the arrangements.
Messages of condolences flooded in for Adriana on a fundraising page established in her memory to support the suicide prevention charity Papyrus. One contributor, Sofiia Katrechko, lamented the loss of a young life filled with promise and shared fond memories of their time spent together.
Adriana, born on February 27, 2012, in Drogheda, Ireland, was a Year 9 student at Langley School in Norfolk. Described as a valued and beloved member of the school community, Adriana’s passing deeply affected everyone at Langley School. Known for her warmth, kindness, and positive attitude, she will be fondly remembered for her academic dedication and active participation in various school activities.
The school has ensured the availability of support for all affected by Adriana’s passing and requested privacy for the family as they cope with their loss. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding Adriana’s death is set for October 16 at 10 am.
