“Buckingham Palace Cooperates with Police in Prince Andrew Probe”

Published on

Buckingham Palace is actively cooperating with police in their investigations regarding allegations of former Prince Andrew’s involvement in public office misconduct.

Sources disclosed that Thames Valley Police (TVP) detectives have requested visitor logs from royal residences linked to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as part of their ongoing probe. Additionally, investigators have sought logs of Andrew’s Private Protection Officers (PPOs) shift schedules during his protection tenure as the former Duke of York from 2001 to 2010.

The recent development follows the police’s expansion of their inquiry to include allegations of sexual misconduct within their initial investigation into potential public office misconduct. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, aged 66, previously served as the UK’s special representative for international trade and investment until 2011. He resigned amidst controversies surrounding his association with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite denying any misconduct related to his ties with Epstein, Buckingham Palace is actively supporting the ongoing police inquiries. The investigation is deemed highly sensitive, with a commitment to thoroughness to ensure no leads are overlooked and to reach out to any potential victims or witnesses.

After Andrew’s arrest and extensive questioning in February over suspected public office misconduct, King Charles expressed profound concern. The monarch affirmed the royal family’s full support and cooperation with the investigating authorities, emphasizing the importance of upholding the law.

Royal sources reaffirmed the King’s dedication to aiding any police investigations involving Mountbatten-Windsor. Last year, the King stripped his brother of all titles and privileges and expelled him from his Windsor residence due to the scandal surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

Searches were conducted at Andrew’s former Royal Lodge in Windsor and his current residence, Marsh Farm, on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Detectives are reviewing evidence collected during the searches and have formally requested the original Epstein files from the United States Department of Justice.

Thames Valley Police’s comprehensive investigation is anticipated to be protracted, with potential hurdles in establishing whether Andrew held a public office during the alleged incidents. Nonetheless, the force intends to pursue any evidence of separate offenses if the public office aspect is not confirmed.

Authorities have appealed for potential victims and witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation. Specifically, they are looking into allegations from a non-British woman who claimed Epstein facilitated her travel to the UK for an encounter with Andrew in 2010.

Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of misconduct in 2001, tragically passed away last year. Andrew has consistently refuted any wrongdoing. The legal definition of public office misconduct encompasses various behaviors, including financial impropriety, neglect of duty, and sexual misconduct.

Thames Valley Police is keen to dispel the misconception that their focus is solely on Andrew’s activities as a trade envoy, clarifying that the investigation’s scope extends beyond that. Buckingham Palace has refrained from providing comments on the matter.
