Formula One Legend Alain Prost Injured in Swiss Robbery

Published on

Formula One legend Alain Prost, a four-time world champion, was reportedly injured in a suspected armed robbery at his residence in Switzerland. The renowned racer, known for his stints with Williams, McLaren, and Ferrari, was physically assaulted during the incident, resulting in a head injury.

Prost, 71, is a revered figure in the racing world, having dominated the sport from 1980 to 1993, setting numerous records including most podium finishes (106), most victories (51), and fastest laps (41). His fierce rivalry with the late Ayrton Senna at Ferrari is etched in Formula One history.

Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen share the distinction of being tied with Prost for the fourth-most Drivers’ Championships, trailing behind Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, and Juan Manuel Fangio. However, Prost’s recent notoriety stems from the unfortunate robbery incident at his home.

According to reports from Swiss newspaper Blick, a group of masked intruders forcibly entered Prost’s family residence in Nyon at around 8:30 am on Tuesday. The armed perpetrators allegedly threatened Prost’s family members, compelling one individual to open a safe within the premises.

One of Prost’s sons was coerced into unlocking the safe, which was then emptied of its contents by the intruders. While the specifics of the stolen items remain undisclosed, it is noted that Prost has strong ties to luxury watch brands.

Despite the ongoing manhunt for the assailants, neither Prost’s family nor the involved brands have issued statements regarding the incident. This incident has raised concerns about safety in the Lake Geneva area, particularly in light of the 18 reported robbery cases in 2025 alone.

Authorities suspect that well-organized criminal groups with cross-border operations target affluent residents, particularly those owning valuable possessions like luxury watches, posing a growing threat to the exclusive residential enclave in Switzerland.

Prost, who celebrated his 71st birthday in February, continues to be actively engaged in nurturing young talents in motor racing, demonstrating his enduring commitment to the sport. Notably, Red Bull Racing’s Isack Hadjar, dubbed “Petit Prost” by Helmut Marko, received praise from Prost, highlighting his unique skills and individuality in racing.
