“Police Investigate Disturbance at Merseyside Beach”

Published on

Police are currently probing a video that seems to depict individuals brandishing weapons on a beach in Merseyside, possibly linked to an episode involving a knife that resulted in a teenager being hospitalized.

Authorities from Merseyside Police responded to a disturbance near the boating lake at Crosby beach on bank holiday Monday around 5:50 pm. A 19-year-old female sustained minor injuries, including a graze to her head and a superficial scratch on her arm, suspected to be caused by a bladed object. She received medical attention at a hospital and has since been discharged.

Following the incident, a 16-year-old male from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assault under section 47. He has been released on conditional bail while further investigations are ongoing.

In addition to the ongoing investigation of the knife incident, authorities are looking into a video showing two men wielding long objects towards a group of individuals to determine any potential connection.

Detective Inspector Edward Barr of Merseyside Police emphasized the importance of gathering information from witnesses present at the scene and urged anyone with details to come forward promptly. He also cautioned against speculating on social media, highlighting the possible negative impact on the investigation.

Armed police were dispatched to the beach post-incident, with visual evidence indicating officers patrolling the sand dunes.

Regarding the victim of the blade incident, DI Barr expressed concern for her well-being and encouraged witnesses to provide any relevant information to aid in the investigation.

Superintendent Phil Mullally noted an increase in reports of disturbances at Sefton’s railway stations, beaches, and roads, amidst high temperatures exceeding 30C in various regions, including Merseyside. Mullally urged the public to enjoy the warm weather responsibly without disrupting others’ safety and peace.

As temperatures soared, thousands of people flocked to beaches over the weekend, prompting law enforcement to address multiple incidents to maintain public order and safety.
