A male individual has been formally accused following the assault on an emergency room physician during his night duty at a hospital in London. The doctor, aged in his 50s, sustained multiple stab wounds while on duty at Hillingdon Hospital in the western part of the city.

After receiving initial treatment from paramedics at the hospital located on Pield Heath Road, the doctor was subsequently transported to a specialized trauma center for further medical care. The suspect was apprehended by the Metropolitan Police, who were present at the scene for an unrelated issue.

Identified as Mahdi Abdullahi, a 27-year-old resident of Pield Heath Road in Hillingdon, the individual was taken into custody and later charged with causing severe bodily harm with intent. Abdullahi made an appearance before Uxbridge magistrates where he faced additional charges of weapon possession and knife theft.

He has been detained pending further legal proceedings and is scheduled for a subsequent court appearance on Friday. A spokesperson from the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust emphasized their ongoing support for staff members and condemned all forms of violence or aggression as unacceptable.
