Britain is preparing for another round of early summer warmth in the coming days, according to meteorologists. Updated weather forecasts indicate that temperatures will rise to 26C in certain areas of southern and eastern England, with 14 counties expected to experience the hottest conditions. A new forecast from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) shows the formation of high pressure systems over much of the UK by June 15, bringing calm weather and sunny skies to many regions.
Normally, temperatures in early June in the UK rarely surpass 20C. However, sustained high pressure outside the UK led to a spike in temperatures in May. The country recorded its highest-ever temperature in May at 35.1C in Kew Gardens, southwest London. Meteorologists anticipate a similar weather pattern for June.
The latest maps for June suggest that the warmest air will be concentrated in the South East of England, East Anglia, and parts of the Midlands, while Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to be slightly cooler. Temperature projections from WXCharts indicate widespread highs of 22C to 24C across the Midlands and eastern England, with some areas in the South East, including Greater London, reaching 25C to 26C, making them the warmest regions in the country.
The Met Office’s mid-range forecast predicts, “Higher pressure and more settled conditions may begin to become more prevalent, especially in the south.” Multiple locations in these counties are forecasted to reach temperatures between 24C and 26C, with little to no rain expected in many parts, as reported by the Express.
