Temperatures are poised to climb to 32C in the UK soon, as indicated by advanced weather forecasting data.

After a scorching heatwave in May with temperatures exceeding 35C, the mercury has now returned to normal levels. Thunderstorms and heavy rain swept across the country during the extreme heatwave.

The ECMWF weather model forecasts a temperature rise starting from June 15, with potential highs of 29C in the south-east. The north-west could see temperatures reaching 28C, while central Scotland might experience highs of 24C.

On June 16, another surge in temperatures is expected, with the south-east of England possibly reaching 32C. The north of England could see highs of 29C-30C, with 31C possible in the east of England and South Yorkshire.

Temperature anomaly maps for June 16 show areas across England, Wales, and southern Scotland in deep red, indicating temperatures expected to surpass the seasonal average significantly.

According to the ECMWF model data, around 21 counties in England may witness temperatures reaching 30C or higher during this period.

Officially, a heatwave is declared in the UK when temperatures exceed the threshold for three consecutive days. The current ECMWF model data does not suggest the onset of another official heatwave yet.

The Met Office’s forecast for June 7 to 16 suggests “high pressure and more settled conditions” dominating, particularly in southern regions. For the remainder of June, temperatures are expected to be “above normal” with the possibility of hot weather in the south, along with chances of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
