Rebekah Vardy and her spouse, Jamie, have once again captured headlines following the debut of their latest reality show on ITV. The program, named The Vardys, chronicles the couple’s adaptation to life in Italy after Jamie’s transfer to Serie A side Cremonese.
Rebekah, aged 44, has faced criticism in the past due to her involvement in the Wagatha Christie scandal. This controversy arose when fellow WAG Coleen Rooney accused Rebekah of leaking her private social media posts to the press. Despite Rebekah’s legal challenge for libel, the court ruled in 2022 that Coleen’s accusations were mostly true. As a result, Rebekah was instructed to cover a significant portion of Coleen’s legal fees along with her own, amounting to an estimated total of £3 million.
Contrary to her public image, a journalist who met with Rebekah at the Radio Times’ offices portrayed her in a positive light. The writer, Caroline Frost, shared that Rebekah appeared amiable and content during their discussion about her new show.
The Vardys’ reality series showcases their quest for a suitable residence in Cremona, a small town located in Italy’s Lombardy region near Milan. The challenges they faced in finding schools for five of their children, while one remains in the UK, are also highlighted.
Although the family’s relocation to Italy was marred by a burglary at their £2 million mansion and Jamie’s unsuccessful efforts to prevent Cremonese from relegation, Jamie has since departed the club. The former England player, approaching 40 next January, still harbors ambitions of playing in the Premier League, with interest from teams like Feyenoord.
Rebekah, who was previously a nightclub promoter, organized Jamie’s 27th birthday celebration in 2014, leading to the start of their family. With two children of their own and two from Rebekah’s earlier relationship, the couple has forged a blended family dynamic.
The third and final episode of The Vardys is scheduled to air tonight on ITV from 9pm to 10pm.
