Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reached out to Vladimir Putin directly, urging a face-to-face meeting to discuss ending the ongoing conflict. In a letter to the Russian President, Zelenskyy mentioned the challenges Putin is facing, including a report indicating significant casualties among Russian soldiers.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized the importance of direct engagement to resolve the conflict and expressed concern for the well-being of Ukrainians affected by the war. Zelenskyy dismissed the idea of meeting in Moscow, suggesting neutral locations like Switzerland, Turkey, or an Arab country for the potential meeting.
Zelenskyy proposed involving European and US representatives in the talks to ensure security guarantees. He also offered a full ceasefire during negotiations. Towards the end of the letter, Zelenskyy hinted at the possibility of Putin facing internal challenges in Russia due to the unpopularity of the war.
In response, Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov suggested that Zelenskyy visit Moscow for the meeting with Putin. The exchange between the two leaders reflects efforts to find a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
