A massive fire has erupted at a large Honda facility near Barcelona, specifically at the Honda Motor España plant in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. The site is engulfed in flames, with thick smoke billowing high into the sky. Firefighters have deployed up to 17 fire engines to the location in response to the fire that originated on the roof of the building, which is equipped with solar panels.
Local authorities have issued warnings urging nearby residents to avoid the fire area and refrain from outdoor activities. They also advise closing doors and windows in case of smoke inhalation. Emergency services are actively working to contain the fire from spreading to other parts of the industrial estate. However, they have yet to gain access to the interior of the building due to the intensity of the blaze.
The incident has led to significant traffic congestion on the AP-7 motorway near Barberà del Vallès, where a dense column of smoke is visible. Video footage captured from a nearby highway depicts smoke emanating from the burning facility. Additionally, a video shared by the local fire department shows rescue teams on-site battling the blaze.
A statement on social media mentioned that efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fire at an industrial warehouse in the Torre del Rector industrial estate, primarily used in the automotive sector. The fire department is utilizing 18 units to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent warehouses.
The fire, which has completely consumed the building’s interior and roof, poses a significant challenge to firefighters. Fortunately, the entire premises have been evacuated, and there have been no reported injuries.
