“UK Citizens Arrested in Spain for Paralyzing Shooting”

Published on

Spanish authorities have apprehended two UK citizens in connection with a brutal attempted murder that resulted in a British man being paralyzed from the neck down. The suspected shooter was caught while trying to board a flight to Edinburgh at Alicante airport, and a woman accompanying him was also taken into custody at the same airport.

Both individuals are believed to be part of a violent criminal group from the UK. The victim, a 27-year-old man, sustained life-altering injuries when he was shot outside his residence near La Manga golf resort. Quick action by police, who used their hands to stop the bleeding, saved his life.

The assailant, reportedly wearing a mask, fled the scene in a vehicle driven by an accomplice after the shooting, leaving the victim tetraplegic. A car matching the description of the getaway vehicle was discovered abandoned and burnt on the AP-7 motorway.

Spanish Civil Guard authorities announced the arrests following a thorough investigation into the incident that took place on November 18, 2024. Evidence recovered from the burnt car included the gun used in the attack, ammunition, a balaclava, and gloves.

Collaboration between UK and Spanish authorities assisted in the investigation, leading to the arrests in April and May. The operation, known as Operation Esbroya 24, revealed that the suspects traveled to the Murcian coast with the specific intent to locate and harm the victim.

The victim, known only as Aaron, was rushed to a hospital in Murcia after being shot multiple times and spent an extended period in intensive care. Neighbors initially mistook the gunshots for firecrackers before emergency services arrived.

Initially thought to be Ukrainian, investigators later confirmed that the victim was a British national. Reports suggested that he had relocated to escape troubles with a criminal group from Torrevieja. Local sources indicated that the attack may have been a result of a vendetta against the victim.
