Johannes Radebe has shared that the new hosts for the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing are still in the process of determining their roles, with plans currently being finalized. Earlier this year, Johannes, Emma Willis, and Josh Widdicombe were announced as the replacements for long-standing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
During an interview on Heart Breakfast with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, Johannes, known for his role as drag queen Lola in the West End production of Kinky Boots, discussed his excitement for the new series. Having previously appeared on Strictly South Africa, Johannes moved to the UK in 2018 and partnered with celebrities like Catherine Tyldesley, Caroline Quentin, John Whaite, and Ellie Taylor.
Reflecting on how he felt upon securing the hosting role, Johannes expressed a mix of surprise, nervousness, and excitement. He mentioned that the opportunity came unexpectedly but embraced it wholeheartedly. When asked about the audition process with Emma and Josh, Johannes confirmed they all had to audition together before landing the roles.
Regarding the specifics of their roles as hosts, Johannes mentioned that the details are still being worked out and nothing is set in stone yet. Amanda playfully commented on the ongoing planning process, while Johannes emphasized that all three hosts bring a strong presence to the show. Emma expressed her admiration for the BBC dance show, while Josh conveyed his enthusiasm and honor to be part of the iconic program.
Following the announcement on Instagram, the BBC shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the new hosts discussing their new roles. Johannes, when asked about transitioning from a dancer to an interviewer, assured fans that he has no plans to retire from dancing anytime soon, highlighting the importance of dance in his life and humorously mentioning his love for the cha cha cha.
