A distinguished group of senior working members of the Royal Family gathered on the Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colour event. Notable absences included Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara, Mike Tindall, and the children of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

King Charles and Queen Camilla stood prominently, accompanied by Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children, as well as other royal family members such as Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh. However, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were missing from the balcony due to their non-working royal status.

The absence of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was also evident. The Queen’s decision to only invite working royals to the balcony marked a change from previous years, excluding non-working members like Harry, Meghan, and Andrew.

Despite the exclusion of non-working royals, an exception was made for Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Princess Anne’s husband, who was present on the balcony. This decision by the monarch was made after careful consideration, emphasizing the inclusion of royals engaged in official public duties.

The tradition of inviting the entire Royal Family to join the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast shifted in 2022 during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The focus was on working members of the royal family, aligning with the Queen’s new directive for the Trooping the Colour event.
