“BBC News Anchor Amy Garcia Claps Back at Wardrobe Criticism”

Published on

BBC News anchor Amy Garcia recently shared her experience of facing criticism from viewers regarding her wardrobe choices on screen. Garcia, 45, who hosts the Look North program, disclosed that she received a handwritten letter from a viewer expressing disapproval of her “short dresses.”

In response to the criticism, the Yorkshire-based mother of two took to Instagram, posting a photo of herself looking radiant in a blue and red patterned dress, paired with nude heels and a bright smile, ready for her on-air appearance. Her caption directly addressed the critique, stating that the outfit was chosen with a specific viewer named Margaret in mind.

Supportive messages flooded in from Garcia’s followers, praising her and urging her to ignore the negativity. Some complimented her style, while others defended her against the critical viewer, emphasizing the importance of self-confidence and individuality.

Amy has been the main presenter on Look North since 2020, with previous experience on CBBC, CITV, and The Disney Channel. She has also hosted programs like 60 Seconds on BBC Three and BBC South Today.

In a separate incident, another BBC presenter, Amanda Harper, faced backlash for her outfit choice of leather trousers and high heels while presenting the news. Despite the criticism, viewers also took notice of Princess Catherine’s appearance during the Trooping the Colour event, praising her elegant attire and demeanor alongside her children.

During the event, Princess Catherine, 44, looked stunning in a pale blue dress with white accents and a striking hat, accessorized with pearl floral earrings. Viewers expressed admiration for her timeless beauty and likened her attire to that of Princess Diana from 1987. Royal Family members, including Princess Catherine, were observed during the procession, culminating in a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace for a Royal Air Force flypast.
