A council member who switched from the Conservative party to Reform UK has now left Reform UK as well, criticizing them as “unfit to govern” and plagued by “toxic infighting.”

Robbie Lammas, the former deputy leader of Reform UK on Medway Council in Kent, resigned from his new role after just eight months. He regretted his move from the Tories to Nigel Farage’s party, admitting it was a major error and that he felt deceived.

Lammas characterized Reform as lacking seriousness, preparation, and the ability to govern, stating that their internal conflicts made Conservative disputes seem minor. Now an independent council member, he expressed a desire to eventually rejoin the Conservative party.

Acknowledging his mistake in leaving the Conservatives, Lammas apologized and recognized the progress made by Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch in revitalizing the party. He mentioned that he initially believed Reform welcomed those with conservative values but has since learned otherwise.

A spokesperson for Reform UK mentioned Lammas had previously faced a suspension and formal warning for his conduct, as well as a rejected job application within the party. Despite Lammas’s departure, the party highlighted its recent successes in local government elections, now controlling over 30 councils and looking forward to upcoming elections in Medway.
