Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit the UK soon to participate in a significant event preceding the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, accompanied by their children Archie and Lilibet, are planning to make the journey to the UK together for the event. According to an insider, Harry feels a deep sense of sorrow about the distance from his home country.
Although Harry has been back to the UK several times after stepping down from royal duties in 2020, this upcoming trip will mark Meghan’s first return to England since attending the late Queen’s funeral in 2022.
The family’s visit is in anticipation of an event celebrating the one-year countdown to the Birmingham Games. Harry has desired to bring his family back to his roots for a long time. A source revealed that Harry has felt a particular sadness over not being able to safely reconnect his wife and children with their British relatives and heritage.
The Mirror reached out to the spokespersons of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, representatives of the Invictus Games, and Buckingham Palace for comments.
During their previous visit in 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, it is believed that Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, aged five, met King Charles for the first time. The current status of their potential reunion with King Charles or other members of the Royal Family remains uncertain due to strained relationships.
Harry last saw his father in September last year during the annual WellChild Awards in London, where he had a private tea with Prince Charles. The Duke has expressed his desire to bring his family to the UK, but security concerns have been a significant obstacle. Despite losing his appeal for taxpayer-funded security in the UK in May 2025, arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of the Sussexes during their upcoming visit.
In an interview last year, Harry mentioned his hesitation about returning to the UK with his family. However, preparations have been made to guarantee their safety during the visit.
