Emma Willis’ spouse, Matt, has revealed a minor issue within their marriage that caused significant challenges. The popular TV host, known for her role on Strictly Come Dancing, has been married to the Busted band member since 2008. Despite sharing three children, Isabelle, Ace, and Trixie, their relationship has faced hurdles.
Matt, who has been open about his past struggles with substance abuse, including cocaine and alcohol, has been sober since 2016 after undergoing rehab and appearing in a documentary about his battle titled Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction.
The couple sought couples counseling but found themselves stuck in repetitive conversations without progress. Matt shared on his podcast about their breakthrough, stating that identifying the root cause of their recurring issue resolved it completely, despite its seemingly trivial nature.
Emma’s recent appointment as a new host on Strictly, alongside Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe, marked a shift in the show’s lineup. Following the departure of longtime hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly in 2025, Emma expressed excitement about the opportunity and looks forward to working with the talented dancers and judges.
On the other hand, Matt acknowledged Emma’s constructive feedback on his personal development, particularly addressing his tendency to generate numerous ideas without fully executing them. Reflecting on Emma’s observation that he struggles to follow through on projects, Matt recognized the importance of addressing this trait for personal growth.
Receiving Emma’s critique was challenging for Matt, but he acknowledged the need to improve in this aspect to enhance their relationship.
