Two individuals have been accused of murder in connection with the death of an eight-week-old infant at a residence in Lincolnshire. The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Lauren Murgatroyd from Novak Place, Morecambe, and 26-year-old Liam Neve from Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, are facing charges following an extensive investigation conducted by law enforcement.
Authorities responded to a property in Bourne, Lincolnshire, on October 31, 2023, where the infant was discovered and subsequently transported to a hospital but unfortunately passed away. Lincolnshire Police revealed that both Murgatroyd and Neve were formally charged with murder on the evening of June 23, along with additional offenses.
Murgatroyd has been specifically accused of providing false information related to birth, as well as being involved in the death of a child, two instances of causing serious bodily harm under Section 18, and two cases of allowing a child to experience severe physical harm. Neve is facing identical charges alongside two counts of actual bodily harm. Both suspects are scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on June 24, as reported by LancashireLive.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt from the Major Crime Unit expressed sympathy for those affected by this tragic incident and emphasized the ongoing commitment to seeking justice for the deceased infant. The police statement underscored the significant impact of the case and the determination to ensure accountability in memory of the infant who tragically lost its life.
