Jackass burst onto the TV scene almost thirty years ago with a memorable introduction from Johnny Knoxville. The show quickly gained popularity for its mix of risky stunts and outrageous pranks. While Knoxville was seen as the leader, Steve-O often took on the most daring challenges.
In a recent interview with Playboy, Steve-O shared insights into the early days of Jackass, revealing the meager pay they received for their dangerous antics. Despite the risks and injuries, the cast members were paid minimal amounts per stunt, with Steve-O recalling being paid just $200 for one particularly stomach-turning act involving a live goldfish.
Reflecting on his early days on the show, Steve-O admitted to charging only $500 for getting bitten by a shark. In total, he earned less than $1,500 for the entire first season of Jackass. The interview also unveiled Steve-O’s unconventional attempt to gain credibility as a stuntman by attending Clown College before joining the show.
Jackass aired for three seasons on MTV before transitioning to movies and spin-off projects. The franchise is set to conclude with its final film, “Jackass: Best and Last,” releasing in theaters on July 2. Steve-O confirmed that this movie marks the definitive end of the Jackass era, bringing closure to the iconic series.
