Robert Alexander, aged 66, has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Christina Alexander, by stabbing her 78 times at their residence in Dosthill, Tamworth, in June 2025. The motive behind the brutal act was revealed to be financial gain, as per court proceedings.
The victim, Mrs. Alexander, aged 60, suffered severe injuries after being stabbed multiple times in various parts of her body, including the face, neck, body, arms, and legs. The trial at Stafford Crown Court uncovered a history of threatening and violent behavior by the defendant towards his wife, with attempts to justify his actions as self-defense.
After carrying out the fatal attack, Robert Alexander changed his attire, disposed of evidence, and sat calmly with his dogs before contacting emergency services. During his arrest, he admitted to the crime, attributing it to disputes over money and control issues within their relationship.
Despite claiming self-defense and citing mental health conditions like depression and autism as factors, medical experts refuted these claims, stating that Alexander’s mental state did not absolve him of responsibility for the murder.
The prosecution highlighted a pattern of controlling and abusive behavior by Alexander, culminating in the tragic death of Christina Alexander, who had been taking steps to leave the relationship due to fear of violence and financial dependency. The prosecution emphasized that the evidence disproved Alexander’s claims of self-defense and diminished responsibility.
The CPS representative expressed sympathy for the victim’s family and underscored the significance of holding individuals accountable for controlling and abusive conduct. Alexander is awaiting sentencing at a later date.
