Community Urged to Attend Funeral of Man with No Known Relatives

Published on

A plea has been made by a funeral director to the local community to attend the funeral of a man who passed away without any known relatives. Patrick McNally, a resident of West Belfast, peacefully passed away at a hospice in NI recently, described in an obituary as a “loving son” and “beloved brother.”

Mallon Brothers Funeral Directors, following Patrick’s passing, utilized social media to share information about his funeral and the commemoration of his life, urging anyone familiar with him to join the service. Due to Patrick’s lack of contact with his only surviving sibling, there are no family members able to attend his funeral. Consequently, the directors have appealed to the community to come and show support for Patrick during his final journey.

In an announcement, the funeral directors stated, “McNally Patrick, peacefully passed away at the N.I hospice on June 22, 2026, (formerly of 306 Glen Road).” They described him as a “loving son of the late Mary and John” and a “beloved brother to Gerard, the late John-Joseph, and Bridget. Uncle, Cousin, and friend, RIP. Funeral arrangements to follow. St Pio, pray for him.”

Regrettably, Patrick has no close family members left. His only surviving brother has been out of contact with him for over 50 years, and there are no known next of kin. The directors emphasized their belief that every individual deserves to be remembered and honored.

The directors extended a sincere invitation to the residents of West Belfast to attend Patrick’s funeral and give him a dignified farewell, as reported by Belfast Live. They welcomed anyone who knew Patrick at any point in his life, whether as a neighbor, friend, colleague, or acquaintance, to join them in an act of kindness and respect. They emphasized that even a brief presence would help ensure Patrick is remembered with dignity, companionship, and care during his final journey.

Together, they aimed to provide Patrick with a proper send-off, highlighting the importance of every life and person in the world. They concluded by emphasizing that no one should bid farewell alone.
