Detectives are seeking assistance in locating the mother of a newborn infant discovered deceased in a warehouse in the Black Country. The baby, suspected to be a girl, was found in a waste pile at an industrial site in Rowley Regis on Thursday.

According to West Midlands Police, the waste containing the infant had been inadvertently transported by a private waste operator to the site on Station Road the day before. The operator operates in various regions, including the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and West Mercia, with no current connection to the baby’s death.

Police are conducting investigations, including forensic examinations, to identify the baby and determine the cause of death. They emphasize the urgent need to locate the baby’s mother for her well-being and potential medical attention.

Authorities are urging individuals who may have noticed any unusual behavior in a loved one recently to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake expressed concern for the mother’s well-being, stating that she is the top priority. A Major Incident Public Portal has been established for the public to provide information directly to the police to assist in identifying the mother.
