OAP drug smuggler, Roger Clarke, has left prison and flown to Costa Blanca in Spain for a vacation. Clarke, 79, was imprisoned in Portugal for trafficking £1 million worth of cocaine from the Caribbean along with his late wife, Susan. After Susan’s death in 2021, Clarke was extradited to the UK in 2021. During a day release in 2024, Clarke expressed his discontent over his prolonged imprisonment, which led to his transfer to a high-security facility.

Now, Clarke has resurfaced in Spain, where he previously resided with Susan. He shared on Facebook that he traveled to Rojales in Alicante, just a short distance from where he used to live. Despite spending a significant amount of time behind bars, Clarke’s decision to vacation in Spain has surprised many due to the high-profile nature of his case.

In past reports, it was revealed that Clarke and Susan were active members of a golf society at a local bar in El Raso. Clarke, maintaining his innocence, mentioned plans to seek compensation for his time served, citing false imprisonment and human rights violations.

The couple’s criminal history dates back to drug smuggling activities in Norway, where they were involved in importing cannabis valued at £1 million. After evading arrest and changing identities, a newspaper photo led to their apprehension and subsequent incarceration in Norway in 2011.

Despite his turbulent past, Clarke now hopes to reconnect with his estranged family and seek closure following Susan’s passing and his time in various prisons.
