“Holidaymaker Uses Itching Powder to Combat Poolside Seat Reservers”

Published on

During a family vacation in Mallorca, a holidaymaker named Tom Caunce took action against fellow tourists who consistently reserved poolside sunbeds early in the morning. Tired of the practice, he decided to sprinkle itching powder on their towels as a playful retaliation. Filming the act, Tom targeted what he called “repeat offenders” who secured prime loungers before disappearing.

Expressing frustration common among holidaymakers, Tom stated, “Many of us have experienced the frustration of trying to secure a sunbed on vacation.” He further explained, “On my last holiday, I decided enough was enough and that it was time for a bit of playful payback.”

Living in Southport, Tom observed guests who habitually claimed the same loungers each morning before leaving. His first target was a middle-aged woman and her husband who consistently reserved beds despite minimal poolside presence. Tom discreetly applied itching powder to one of their towels, which led to an immediate reaction when the woman discovered it, prompting her to quickly change the towel.

Undeterred by the initial outcome, Tom devised a new plan for the following day. Watching from his balcony as holidaymakers headed to the pool, he seized the opportunity to target another couple who aimed for the same loungers. Sneaking downstairs, he rubbed itching powder onto a hotel towel, leading to the man experiencing discomfort and eventually jumping into the pool.

As the situation escalated with the man using the towel to dry himself, Tom described how the irritation spread, causing the holidaymaker to abandon sunbathing and seek refuge under an umbrella for the rest of the afternoon. The humorous incident captured in videos shared online garnered significant attention, amassing over 864,000 views and 13,000 likes, with mixed reactions from social media users.

The prank, fueled by frustration over sunbed reservations, unfolded in Majorca over two days in June. Itching powder, a common ingredient for such pranks, historically derived from rosehip seed pods, containing microscopic hairs that cause irritation. However, some low-quality versions used hazardous materials like ground-up fiberglass in the past.
