The Jam Bassist Bruce Foxton Reveals Parkinson’s Battle

Published on

The renowned musician Bruce Foxton, known for his role in The Jam, has recently disclosed that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. This revelation came shortly after he had to cancel several shows due to health issues.

In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, the 70-year-old bassist expressed his gratitude for the well-wishes he received from fans. He explained that his decision to cancel recent performances was influenced by a combination of extreme heat and an underlying chest infection, which required rest and medication.

Foxton clarified that rumors of him being hospitalized were untrue, emphasizing that he was recuperating at home. He also addressed concerns about his health, revealing that ongoing cancer treatments had led to the discovery of his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Foxton admitted that accepting his diagnosis was a significant shock. Despite the difficulties, he expressed determination to manage his condition and continue pursuing his passion for music.

Following his time with The Jam, Foxton joined Stiff Little Fingers before forming the tribute band From The Jam in 2006. Despite health setbacks in the past, including struggles with tinnitus and a successful cataract operation, he remains committed to performing and connecting with audiences.

The news of Foxton’s Parkinson’s diagnosis comes nearly two years after his temporary departure from From The Jam due to health issues. Alongside his former bandmates Paul Weller and the late Rick Buckler, The Jam achieved significant success during their tenure from 1972 to 1982, leaving a lasting impact with hits like “Town Called Malice.”
