Olivia Wilde has expressed gratitude towards her co-star Walton Goggins for rescuing her during a dangerous incident on set. The 42-year-old actress was filming the sci-fi Western movie Cowboys and Aliens in 2011 when a potentially life-threatening situation unfolded.

While filming a scene on horseback, Wilde was thrown off her horse and found herself in a perilous position of being at risk of being trampled. Fortunately, Goggins intervened and saved her from harm. Wilde recounted the harrowing experience during a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard.

Describing the incident, Wilde shared, “Walt Goggins saved my life on that movie. I had a very bad horse accident, and he saved me. It was me, Daniel Craig, and Harrison Ford galloping at full speed across the desert with a group of horses behind us, leading the charge against the aliens.”

She went on to explain, “About two months into filming, we became overconfident and competitive. Approaching a large ditch, I was convinced my horse would leap over it. Riding with a western saddle and no helmet to portray an old-timey character, the horse unexpectedly bucked me off, causing me to hit my head and back.”

Wilde vividly recalled the moment, stating, “As I lay on the ground, hidden from the approaching horses by a dirt lip and dust cloud, I could hear the thundering hooves getting closer. I feared the worst, thinking it would be a quick and devastating end.”

Fortunately, Goggins spotted the danger and acted swiftly to protect Wilde. She continued, “Walt Goggins saw me ahead, turned his horse sideways in front of me, and shielded me from the oncoming horses. While others thought he had lost control, he was actually safeguarding me. I owe him my life; he is a true hero.”
