Co-operative Bank Offers £300 Switching Bonus

Published on

Banks and credit unions face a tough challenge in convincing customers to switch from their current account providers, which is why they often entice them with cash incentives. Many individuals remain loyal to their long-standing providers for the sense of security they provide. The Co-operative Bank recently introduced its most lucrative switching offer to date, offering up to £300 for new customers switching to its standard current account or Everyday Extra packaged account.

To qualify for the initial £125 reward, customers must meet specific requirements such as depositing a minimum of £1,500, maintaining two active direct debits, and conducting five debit card transactions within 30 days of the switch. Additional bonuses of up to £75 can be earned by depositing another £1,500, making additional debit card transactions, and keeping two direct debits active for three more months.

Existing Co-operative Bank customers, including those with accounts at the Coventry Building Society, which acquired the Co-operative Bank in early 2025, can receive an extra loyalty bonus of £100 for switching their current account. Both the standard and Everyday Extra accounts offer a savings account with an attractive 7% interest rate, allowing customers to start with just £1 and save up to £250 monthly.

The Everyday Extra account, similar to offerings from competitors, provides benefits in exchange for a monthly fee, which has been reduced to £12 from £18. These perks include travel and mobile phone insurance, as well as European car breakdown coverage. Rachel Springall, a financial expert at Moneyfacts, emphasized the importance of affordable current account options that are free from unnecessary fees to help consumers manage their finances effectively.

Numerous banks, like NatWest and Barclays, are also enticing customers to switch their current accounts by offering cash incentives and additional benefits. Santander, Nationwide building society, HSBC, and First Direct are among other institutions running similar promotions worth considering.
