In a disturbing revelation from state records, it has come to light that the mother of 16 children rescued from appalling living conditions akin to ‘feral animals’ had previously given birth to conjoined twins. The children, ranging from 18 months to 18 years old, were found in a deteriorating property where they were reportedly living in conditions worse than livestock.
Authorities in the US have labeled the case as ‘intrafamily,’ suggesting potential incestuous relationships within the family leading to some of the children’s births. The individuals believed to be the parents and grandparents, Gary Siders Jr, Gary Siders Sr, Christina Siders, and Elizabeth Siders, now face criminal charges for causing serious physical harm to the children.
Further investigation revealed that Elizabeth Siders had given birth to conjoined twins, Bailey Lee and Faith Lee Siders, with a condition known as thoracopagus. Tragically, the twins passed away on the same day they were born. The deplorable scene discovered by officers depicted children confined in a small, filthy space covered in human waste, enduring such conditions for four years.
Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson condemned the situation as “pure evil,” emphasizing the unimaginable hardships the children had endured. Wilson described the children as living in appalling conditions beyond comprehension, highlighting the lack of basic care and communication abilities among some of them.
Charged with 17 counts of child endangerment, the two parents and two grandparents appeared in court and are currently held on bail. The Vinton County Sheriff expressed shock at the discovery, comparing the children’s conditions unfavorably to that of livestock.
Following the rescue, some of the children were transported to hospitals in Columbus, with two requiring emergency airlift. As the children receive medical care, the authorities prioritize their physical well-being while acknowledging the severe psychological trauma they have likely experienced.
The suspects, who have been on the move to avoid leaving a paper trail, are being thoroughly investigated. The officials are dedicated to ensuring the children receive the care they deserve and have vowed to prosecute the individuals responsible for their suffering to the fullest extent of the law.
