A visitor to Jeremy Clarkson’s pub shared his perspective on the dining experience, highlighting one particular aspect that bothered him. Kym Illman, a renowned Formula 1 photographer who also delves into travel vlogging, recently explored the picturesque Cotswolds where Clarkson manages The Farmer’s Dog pub and the famous Diddly Squat Farm.
Having missed out on a previous attempt due to booking oversight, Kym made a return visit to indulge in the culinary offerings. He commenced with a buffalo mozzarella salad, noting its freshness despite being on the smaller side. Moving on, he savored a flavorsome soup and sourdough bread before delving into the main course, featuring steak pies and a Cotswold sausage.
Impressed by the elevated flavors of the pie, Kym’s culinary journey continued with high praises for the mashed potatoes, evoking a sense of joy from the meal. Although he found the sausage above average, the pie remained his preferred choice. Reflecting on the pub’s clientele, Kym observed a diverse mix of visitors, emphasizing the welcoming atmosphere that appeals to a wide range of people from different parts of the world.
The dining experience concluded with an Eton mess dessert, described as exquisite and delightful. With a total bill of approximately £140 for two, inclusive of various dishes, wine, water, and gratuity, Kym dubbed it the best lunch he had experienced in Britain. Awarding the pie a stellar 9.1 out of 10 rating, Kym dismissed claims of overrating, praising the establishment and lamenting the potential wait for his next visit.
Acknowledging the cost for quality food and a memorable experience, Kym expressed contentment with his visits but expressed mild frustration at the prospect of waiting for his next return.
