Donald Trump has disclosed that he has given directives to his advisors in case of a potential assassination by Iran. The US President’s statement follows his recent characterization of himself as Iran’s primary target. Trump emphasized that he has instructed to take unprecedented military action if any harm befalls him.
This warning from Trump comes in response to public calls for his demise during the funeral of Iran’s late supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Through his Truth Social platform, Trump asserted that a significant number of missiles are prepared to target Iran, with more in reserve should Iran act on threats to harm the US President.
Prior to these developments, the US had demanded Iran’s public guarantee of the open status of the Strait of Hormuz and the safety of ships passing through it. Recent vessel attacks were attributed to internal power struggles in Tehran, with hardliners seeking to disrupt peace efforts.
Despite previous clashes, Trump indicated intentions to engage in ongoing discussions with Iran, stressing the end of the ceasefire. While seeking assurances regarding the strait, Iran’s top diplomat reaffirmed Iran’s exclusive control over activities in the Gulf channel.
Efforts to loosen Tehran’s control over the vital sea route had been a focal point in prior negotiations. However, the current agreement only ensures temporary safe passage through the waterway, pending further discussions on Iran’s nuclear plans. The responsibility for managing the Strait of Hormuz’s future is left to Iran, Oman, and other Gulf states.
Trump’s stance on using military force against Iran remains steadfast, particularly in response to perceived threats against his life. In a previous executive order, he warned of severe consequences if Iran were to execute any plans to harm him.
