Ann Widdecombe completed a recently unveiled interview supporting Nigel Farage just moments before her passing, recent reports reveal. The former Cabinet Minister conducted the ten-minute pre-recorded interview with a Christian radio station TWR-UK via zoom last Wednesday. Notably, the interview took place between 11:54 am and 12:10 pm, just 20 minutes prior to her estimated time of death. In the interview, Widdecombe, aged 78, defended the Reform UK leader amidst an investigation by the Standards Committee regarding a substantial payment he received from a Thai-based crypto billionaire. Widdecombe expressed that Farage was a victim of what she termed “the politics of personal destruction.”
The snippet of the interview, scheduled for broadcast last week but delayed, was played on Times Radio with the consent of Widdecombe’s family on Tuesday morning. The interviewer, James Maidment Fullard, praised Widdecombe’s kindness and compassion off-air. He described her as robust, knowledgeable, and passionate during interviews. Reflecting on her sudden demise, Maidment Fullard expressed deep sadness and shared his struggle to comprehend the news.
Widdecombe, a former Tory minister and spokesperson for Reform UK, was discovered deceased in her kitchen a day after her death at approximately 12:30 pm, having sustained severe injuries at her remote cottage residence. Detectives are currently interrogating a 28-year-old White British man, detained on suspicion of Widdecombe’s murder. The investigation has been escalated to involve counter-terror authorities following the revelation of new information and evidence. The suspect was re-arrested on suspicion of terror-related offenses, allowing authorities to detain him for up to 14 days.
Police are examining CCTV footage showing the suspect placing an object in a car on the day of Widdecombe’s death. Neighbors have described the man as solitary, especially following the recent loss of his father.
