A Birmingham woman, Emma Jane Williams, aged 41, has been charged with attempted murder after being apprehended in January for allegedly trying to interfere with a boy’s medication. The Birmingham Crown Court heard that Williams searched online for harmful substances to mix with the child’s medication. The prosecutor, Timothy Harrington, stated that Williams was planning to harm the victim, whose identity remains protected by a court order.
Williams, residing in Erdington, Birmingham, has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder charge. The prosecution claims that she intentionally tampered with the boy’s medication multiple times by researching the effects of certain liquids on specific medicines. Harrington emphasized that Williams’ actions were premeditated and aimed at ending the boy’s life, supported by her internet searches and behaviors.
The prosecutor argued that Williams’ behavior was not impulsive but a calculated and deliberate attempt to harm the victim. He presented hidden camera footage to the court, revealing Williams in the act of tampering with the medication, claiming she was caught in the act. Harrington emphasized that Williams had no reasonable explanation for her actions, indicating her guilt in the matter.
The prosecutor concluded by asserting that Williams’ actions were intentional and not accidental, highlighting the seriousness of the situation captured in the covert footage.
