Channing Tatum Reveals Intermittent Fasting Secrets

Channing Tatum recently shared the uncomplicated dietary approach he adopted to shed over five stone for a film role. The renowned actor, famous for his appearances in “Step Up” and “Magic Mike,” detailed how adhering to a consistent routine enabled one of his most significant physical transformations.

The 46-year-old star disclosed that his primary adjustment involved postponing his first meal until approximately 3 pm daily. He then consumed two modest meals comprising meat and vegetables, supplementing the regimen with extended, light cardio sessions.

During a recent interview, Tatum acknowledged his historical ease in fluctuating weight for film purposes. Nevertheless, he noted the increasing challenge as he ages, mentioning, “I used to be able to lose weight really quickly. I could fluctuate almost 25 to 30 pounds in three weeks.”

While filming a project that necessitated a “dad bod” appearance, Tatum weighed about 245 pounds. Subsequently, he slimmed down to roughly 172 pounds for another role, equating to a weight loss of approximately 73 pounds or slightly over five stone.

Initially aiming to reach 185 pounds, Tatum found himself surpassing that target due to the consistent routine facilitated by the filming environment. He highlighted the structure provided by being on set, attributing it to his adherence to the daily plan.

Detailing his eating strategy, Tatum revealed, “I was fasting from when I woke up to about 2 pm or 3 pm every day. Then I’d have two small meals of meat and vegetables.” This regimen aligns with intermittent fasting, restricting eating to specific hours of the day.

Intermittent fasting, as per the NHS, may be effective for some individuals by potentially reducing overall calorie intake. However, sustained, successful weight management relies on maintaining a wholesome, balanced diet and regular physical activity, rather than any singular dietary approach.

Studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine also suggest that intermittent fasting can serve as a viable weight-loss tactic for certain adults. Nonetheless, researchers concluded its effectiveness is generally comparable to other calorie-controlled diets when caloric intake remains consistent.

Tatum’s insights resonate with guidance previously shared by his personal chef and nutritionist, Aline Fiuza. According to Fiuza, the actor initiates body transformations with fasting before transitioning to an intermittent fasting schedule, typically consuming meals between 1 pm and 6 pm or 7 pm.

Fiuza elaborated that Tatum’s diet predominantly centers on vegetables, animal protein, nuts, and seeds, tailored to suit the physical demands of his various roles. As filming progresses, he gradually reintroduces three daily meals into his routine.

Earlier this year, Tatum expressed reluctance in subjecting his body to extreme weight fluctuations. In an Instagram post, he expressed gratitude towards his trainer and chef but declared his decision to refrain from undertaking further weight-related transformations, citing the strain on his body and the difficulty in shedding excess weight.
