An alligator that fatally attacked a woman in front of her boyfriend has been captured after weeks of efforts by authorities. Brittany Clark, 31, lost both arms to the 13-foot alligator on June 29 while swimming in a river at Little Big Econ State Forest in Florida. She was in shoulder-deep water with her boyfriend, Chance Allison, and a roommate when the attack occurred.
Authorities confirmed the capture of the alligator responsible for the brutal attack on Ms. Clark. Trappers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) caught two alligators, one measuring 12 feet and the other 13 feet. DNA tests and bite marks matched the largest alligator to the victim.
During the attack, the alligator dragged Ms. Clark underwater, prompting Mr. Allison to try to rescue her. The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that the alligator engaged in a “death roll,” pulling both victims underwater. Despite Mr. Allison’s attempts to save her, Ms. Clark sustained severe arm injuries.
Emergency services were called as Ms. Hernandez described the horrific scene, stating that one of Ms. Clark’s arms was completely torn off, while the other was barely attached. Despite efforts to save her life, Ms. Clark succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
Described as an “amazing person” by her family, Ms. Clark used her final moments to ask Mr. Allison to care for her German Shepherd, Hokie. In a heartbreaking statement, Mr. Allison recalled this final request, emphasizing the profound loss of his partner.
