Primark has initiated a price reduction strategy on numerous top-selling products in a recent marketing campaign. Among the discounted items are popular choices like cotton-rich jeans priced at £9, pure-cotton pajamas starting from £7, and viral boyfriend pajamas for women and children now priced at £13 and £8, respectively.
The markdowns also extend to children’s clothing ranges, with notable offers on tops and bottoms priced at £2 each. These new prices are effective immediately on fresh collections in stores and will carry through to the upcoming autumn/winter line.
In addition to the price adjustments, Primark has enhanced the quality, fit, and style of its product ranges and improved the visibility of reduced prices in stores through clearer signage.
Matt Houston, Chief Customer Officer at Primark, emphasized the brand’s commitment to offering exceptional value to customers without compromising on style or quality. Primark recently reported a 1% increase in UK sales, with steady like-for-like growth. The company attributed fluctuations in sales performance to factors such as the Middle East conflict’s impact on consumer sentiment and unpredictable weather conditions.
Associated British Foods (ABF), Primark’s parent company, disclosed plans to separate the Primark retail business by the end of 2027. Following the split, both ABF and Primark will be listed on the FTSE 100, with Wittington Investments retaining majority stakes in both entities. The decision to split is expected to incur around £75 million in one-off separation and transaction costs, with an anticipated loss of synergies amounting to less than £45 million.
Mr. Weston, CEO of ABF, highlighted the strategic importance of the separation for the evolution of the company, enabling a focused approach to maximizing growth opportunities for both the food business and Primark. The move aims to unlock the full potential of Primark’s brand and customer proposition in existing and emerging markets.
