Three teenagers have been sentenced to jail after a tragic incident where a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a beach in North Ayreshire. Jay Stewart, aged 19, Cole Turley, aged 18, and a 15-year-old whose identity is protected due to legal reasons, were found guilty of killing Kayden Moy on Irvine beach on May 17, 2025. They have been given sentences ranging from 14 to 16 years of detention.

Turley confessed to the murder, while Stewart and the 15-year-old were convicted of murder after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The trio belonged to the ‘Murray Boys’ gang in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, while Kayden and his group, Himshie, were from the same area.

Witnesses revealed that before the fatal attack, the assailants were throwing rocks at people on the beach. Kayden confronted them after the rocks were thrown, leading to a violent altercation where he was fatally stabbed. Despite efforts to help him, Kayden succumbed to his injuries.

Before the sentencing, Kayden’s father expressed the family’s profound loss on social media, emphasizing that no punishment could fill the void left by their son’s tragic death. He underscored the importance of seeking justice and ensuring that his son’s memory lives on.
