WhatsApp has unveiled a significant update for its vast user base, introducing new features such as iPad support, enhanced in-car functionality, improved PDF tools, and simplified music sharing. The messaging platform, owned by Meta, aims to enhance user experience by ensuring seamless functionality across various devices.
Users will now be able to create and register a WhatsApp account directly from the iPad app without the need for initial phone setup, a notable change for iPad owners. Additionally, WhatsApp has revamped its Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps, enabling drivers to manage messages, calls, contacts, and more directly from their vehicle’s display, promoting safer driving practices.
Moreover, users can now preview PDF files within chats without downloading them first, with the added functionality of highlighting and annotating PDFs on web and desktop versions through Adobe Acrobat integration. Furthermore, music enthusiasts can easily share tracks from Apple Music and Spotify to their WhatsApp Status, simplifying the process of showcasing their current playlists to friends.
The updated features are currently being rolled out, with users expected to receive them through an upcoming app update if not immediately available.
