More than 180 areas are expected to experience rainfall on Tuesday, interrupting the country’s sunny summer weather temporarily. The Met Office has predicted showers in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with most parts of England also anticipating precipitation.

According to the forecast issued on Monday morning, heavy rain is forecasted in the northern regions with a possibility of thunderstorms. Southern areas will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, alongside warm and humid conditions. The north is expected to be windy.

Despite the wet weather, temperatures will remain high in drier regions like the southeast, where it could reach 28C. The Met Office anticipates a return to sunshine after the rainy spell, although the north may continue to experience unsettled conditions with rain or showers over the next few days.

Rainfall is projected to affect 181 council areas nationwide, encompassing all regions in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. In England, 116 out of 153 council areas are likely to see some form of rain. The heaviest rainfall is expected in the northern parts of England, particularly in the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire, with over 32mm of precipitation expected.

Additional heavy rain is expected in Cornwall, Devon, Newcastle, and the Scottish Borders on Tuesday evening. The rain will arrive in the form of a cloud band moving northeastwards followed by scattered showers.

Temperatures will stay typical for August, with Belfast expecting 23C, Cardiff and Manchester 25C, Edinburgh 20C, and London being warmer at 28C.
