The 68-year-old comedian underwent a procedure in 2015 where three stents were implanted due to heart disease discovered after a critical bowel surgery. Joining forces with his friend Bob Mortimer, who had undergone a triple bypass, the duo ventured into fishing, leading to the creation of their successful BBC show Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing in 2018.

During an appearance on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast alongside his wife Dr. Mine Conkbayir, Whitehouse expressed how fishing serves as a retreat for him, transporting him to serene environments away from the chaos of everyday life. Recently, they mourned the loss of Ted, a beloved dog from their show, with a crowdfunding initiative raising over £35,000 in Ted’s memory for charitable causes.
