Nadia Sawalha Takes Legal Action Against “Loose Women”

Published on

Nadia Sawalha, aged 61, has revealed her decision to pursue legal action against the television show “Loose Women.” Despite being a regular host on the ITV program, she has been absent from the panel since April.

After hinting at sharing her perspective for several days, Nadia made serious allegations against her former employer, claiming she was effectively pushed out of her role through bullying tactics.

Nadia asserted that she faced uncertainties and inconsistent treatment from producers, who allegedly manipulated her on-air presence due to her vocal support for Palestinian rights.

In a recent statement, Nadia expressed her determination to resist intimidation and censorship. She disclosed that her legal representatives at ELSC (European Legal Support Centre) had lodged a complaint against ITV, accusing the network of discriminatory actions based on her protected beliefs.

Addressing the situation, Nadia highlighted the challenges she faced after openly advocating for Palestine in 2023, citing a targeted smear campaign orchestrated to discredit her and pressure ITV to remove her from the show.

Moreover, she disclosed that influential pro-Israel figures had submitted a lengthy report to ITV urging them not to reinstate her without affording her the opportunity to respond to the accusations. Despite her role as an opinionated host on a debate program, Nadia emphasized that she never broached the topic of Palestine directly on the show.

In addition to initiating legal proceedings against ITV, Nadia urged support for a petition aimed at showcasing solidarity with individuals who have faced similar repercussions for expressing their beliefs. She emphasized the importance of resisting coercion and defending the right to speak out against injustice.

Earlier in the week, Nadia had promised her followers a detailed explanation for her absence from “Loose Women,” initially planning to share a video on August 5 but postponing it to the following day due to legal considerations.

Known for her acting roles, Nadia was a founding member of the show in 1999 and rejoined the cast in 2013, becoming a prominent figure alongside fellow hosts like Coleen Nolan and Kaye Adams.

Amid reports of internal discord at ITV regarding Nadia’s status on the show, tensions escalated due to controversies surrounding her YouTube channel with her husband. Despite a reported push to bar her return, Nadia denied rumors of suspension from “Loose Women.”

The Mirror reached out to both ITV and Nadia’s representatives for comments on these claims, with ongoing inquiries into the allegations raised by Nadia regarding her treatment by ITV.
