Published on

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported a fatality in a collision involving two commercial transport trucks on the Trans-Canada Highway in central Newfoundland. The incident occurred near Gullbridge, also known as Gull Pond Bridge, between Badger and South Brook early Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival just after 2:15 a.m. NT, authorities found both vehicles engulfed in flames. The driver of one of the trucks, a 47-year-old man heading east, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the westbound tractor-trailer sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

As a result of the police response, a section of the Trans-Canada Highway between Badger and South Brook was closed for several hours on Tuesday. An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
