A missile strike carried out by Russian forces resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals in a village located in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, as reported by Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, stating that the village of Pechenihy in the Kharkiv region was targeted, causing significant destruction to residential and commercial buildings. Zelenskyy shared images of the aftermath, depicting destroyed structures and burning vehicles, along with emergency responders aiding the injured.
Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that besides the fatalities, 17 individuals sustained injuries in the assault. The attack caused damage to numerous private residences, a café, a post office, a store, and several vehicles in the village.
Meanwhile, Ukraine launched a large-scale drone offensive targeting Moscow and its surrounding areas, deploying 620 drones in one of Kyiv’s most extensive air assaults on the region. Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over Moscow, with Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reporting emergency services addressing the drone crash sites. The drones struck various facilities near Moscow, including a warehouse owned by the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries, resulting in minor damages and injuries.
Additionally, other Russian-controlled regions, such as Crimea, experienced heavy drone attacks from Ukraine. Power supplier Krymenergo stated that several districts in Crimea lost power due to the drone assaults, impacting the region’s power supply. Russia issued a warning to Britain regarding the alleged supply of drones to Ukraine for attacks on Russian territory, implying potential consequences for such actions.
Britain’s Defence Ministry did not confirm the use of British drones in the attacks. In response to the Russian embassy’s remarks, a ministry spokesperson reaffirmed Britain’s support for Ukraine in defending against the Russian invasion. Britain had previously pledged to provide 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
