A Cape Breton teenager raised $21,000 for Make-A-Wish Canada by running a hotdog stand and receiving donations. Jake Campbell, 13, along with his family, sold hotdogs over the weekend, using supplies donated by No Frills and Wonder Bread. Last year, they raised $3,000 through hotdog sales. Campbell aimed to double that amount this year and successfully achieved the goal.

The hotdog stand was set up in the Russell Hawkins parking lot in Sydney, N.S., where besides selling hotdogs, they also received cash donations. Hollie Quick, a senior development officer at Make-A-Wish Canada, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. Campbell and his family were recognized last year, which motivated them to surpass their fundraising efforts this year.

The funds raised by the Campbells will fulfill the wishes of 81 children in Nova Scotia listed by the foundation. Past wishes have included creating accessible spaces at home and family trips. Campbell emphasized the importance of supporting Make-A-Wish Canada as it impacts not only the children but their families as well.

Looking ahead, Campbell expressed his excitement for future fundraising endeavors.
