The Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2026 induction ceremony featured notable figures such as Jamaal Magloire, Dave Smart, and Miranda Ayim. Magloire, a former NBA player, made history as the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors in 2011 after a successful 12-year NBA career, highlighted by an all-star appearance in 2004 with the New Orleans Hornets. Currently holding the role of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, Magloire also contributed as an assistant coach during the Toronto Raptors’ 2018-19 championship season.

Smart’s coaching prowess at Carleton University led the men’s basketball team to an impressive 13 U Sports championships, establishing a dominant legacy for the program. Meanwhile, Ayim, a respected member of Canada’s senior women’s national team, captained the squad and shared the role of flag-bearer for Canada alongside Nathan Hirayama at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The class of 2026, announced on July 2, also includes Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, Teresa Kleindienst, Peter (Doc) Ryan, Janice Deakin, and Dr. Andrew Pipe, who will all be honored alongside Magloire, Smart, and Ayim at the induction ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
