Canada’s Sophia Jensen secured her first-ever world title at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships held in Poznań, Poland. The 24-year-old athlete from Chelsea, Que., clinched the gold medal in the women’s C1 500-meter final, posting a winning time of 2 minutes and 0.78 seconds.
Hungary’s Agnes Anna Kiss took home the silver medal with a time of 2:02.80, while the bronze was claimed by Alena Nazdrova of Belarus in 2:04.80.
Additionally, Ottawa’s Brianna Hennessy also made Canada proud by securing the bronze in the KL1 women’s 200m final, finishing with a time of 54.20 seconds. The gold medal in this event was won by Chilean Paralympic champion Katherinne Wollermann in 52.23 seconds, followed by Maosan Xie from China who took the silver in 53.92 seconds.
